چکیده
In the present study, streamflow simulation capacities between Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) Hydrologic Engineering Centre-Hydrologic Modelling System (HEC-HMS) were compared for Huai Bang Sai (HBS) watershed in northeastern Thailand. During calibration (2007–2010) validation (2011–2014), SWAT model demonstrated a Coefficient of Determination (R2) Nash Sutcliffe Efficiency (NSE) 0.83 0.82, 0.78 0.77, respectively. same periods, HEC-HMS values 0.80 0.79, 0.84 0.82. The exceedance probabilities at 10%, 40%, 90% 144.5, 14.5, 0.9 mm flow duration curves (FDCs) obtained observed flow. From models, these indices yielded 109.0, 15.0, 0.02 mm, 123.5, 16.95, mm. These results inferred those high flows captured well by model, while medium model. It is noteworthy that low accurately simulated both models. Furthermore, dry wet seasonal reasonably with slight under-predictions 2.12% 13.52% to values. under-predicted 10.76% 18.54% flows. study will provide valuable recommendations stakeholders HBS improve water usage policies. addition, be helpful select most appropriate hydrologic humid tropical watersheds Thailand elsewhere world.

Application of the HEC-HMS model for runoff simulation in a tropical catchment
Hydrologic simulation employing computer models has advanced rapidly and computerized models have become essential tools for understanding human influences on river flows and designing ecologically sustainable water management approaches. The HEC-HMS is a reliable model developed by the US Army Corps of Engineers that could be used for many hydrological simulations. This model is not calibrated...
متن کاملRunoff characteristics and application of HEC-HMS for modelling stormflow hydrograph in an oil palm catchment.
Rainfall-runoff processes in a small oil palm catchment (8.2 ha) in Johor, Malaysia were examined. Storm hydrographs show rapid responses to rainfall with a short time to peak. The estimated initial hydrologic loss for the oil palm catchment is 5 mm. Despite the low initial loss, the catchment exhibits a high proportion of baseflow, approximately 54% of the total runoff. On an event basis, the ...
متن کاملEvaluating Three Hydrological Distributed Watershed Models: MIKE-SHE, APEX, SWAT
Selecting the right model to simulate a specific watershed has always been a challenge, and field testing of watersheds could help researchers to use the proper model for their purposes. The performance of three popular Geographic Information System (GIS)-based watershed simulation models (European Hydrological System Model (MIKE SHE), Agricultural Policy/Environmental Extender (APEX) and Soil ...
متن کاملcomparing the performance of semi-distributed swat and lumped hec-hms hydrological models in simulating river discharge (case study: ab-bakhsha watershed)
in many flood control projects, watershed management and water resources development, calculation of the river flow discharge is of the paramount importance which requires a comprehensive hydrological modeling of the region of interest. in this respect, lack of the existence of hydrometric and meteorology measuring stations in most of watersheds, has caused numerous problems in development and ...
متن کاملSimulation of Rainfall-Runoff Process Using Green-Ampt Method and HEC-HMS Model (Case Study: Abnama Watershed, Iran)
Estimation of surface runoff in a watershed based on the rate of received precipitation and quantifying discharge at outlet is important in hydrologic studies. In this study, HEC-HMS hydrological model version 3.4 was used to simulate rainfall-runoff process in Abnama watershed located in south of Iran. To compute infiltration, rainfall excess conversion to runoff and flow routing, methods like...
